President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election, describing the result as a reflection of the confidence placed in the governor by the people of the state.

In a statement published through his official X account, Tinubu disclosed that he personally contacted Adeleke to congratulate him following the declaration of the election result.

The President said Adeleke's victory demonstrated the confidence Osun voters have in his leadership and urged the governor to use his renewed mandate to unite the state and work for the benefit of all residents, irrespective of how they voted.

Tinubu Calls for Unity After Election

According to the President, the responsibility before Adeleke has now moved beyond campaigning and winning an election.

Tinubu urged the governor to bring together the people of Osun State and focus on growth, stability and social and economic development during his next four years in office.

The message comes against the backdrop of the intense political competition that characterised the election, where different parties and candidates sought the support of Osun voters.

Tinubu stressed that political differences should not continue to divide the people once the votes have been counted.

His message to Adeleke was therefore one of governance after victory: unite the people, regardless of their political choices, and concentrate on delivering development.

President Commends Other Candidates

The President also recognised the contestants who challenged Adeleke at the election, praising what he described as their courage and discipline.

According to Tinubu, their participation contributed to the country's democratic development by giving voters different political choices.

He said the outcome represented the will of the people of Osun State and described the result as evidence that Nigeria's democratic system can continue to flourish.
