π₯ DELTA POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTS OVER ILLEGAL FIREARM LINKED TO EFFURUN HOMICIDE
The Delta State Police Command has provided an update on its investigation into the unlawful possession of a Beretta pistol recovered at a transport park in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, on May 1, 2026.
According to the police, four suspects identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike were arrested in separate intelligence-led operations carried out in Bayelsa and Imo States.
The case is connected to the April 2026 killing of Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun.
Police investigations revealed that the first suspect, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, was arrested in Bayelsa State on May 4, 2026. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to purchasing the firearm for β¦290,000 before reselling it for β¦380,000 to a suspect identified as Desmond, who remains at large.
Investigators further disclosed that the firearm was reportedly transported to Effurun, where the late Oghenemine Ogidi was contacted to receive it before it was to be moved to Sapele.
Acting on information obtained during the investigation, operatives tracked and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on May 15, 2026. Princewill allegedly stated that he acquired the firearm from Amadi Felix Chibuike, who was subsequently arrested in Owerri on May 16, 2026.
The police said all four suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals connected to the case, including the fleeing suspect identified as Desmond.
The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating illegal arms trafficking, cult-related activities, and violent crimes across the state.
