International legal and conflict resolution expert Dr. David Nyekorach-Matsanga has announced that he will travel to Finland to observe and support the legal proceedings involving Simon Ekpa, while reaffirming his commitment to pursuing what he describes as justice for both Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa through lawful and diplomatic channels.

In a statement released over the weekend, Matsanga said his focus is on legal advocacy rather than political rivalry, stressing that his involvement is aimed at ensuring due process and respect for the rule of law.

According to him, he intends to work alongside the legal team representing Simon Ekpa during the court proceedings scheduled for August 5, 2026, while also continuing discussions with officials in London regarding the case of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

A major part of Matsanga's statement centered on his concerns about the intelligence and evidence used in the prosecutions. He claimed that the cases raise serious questions that deserve independent legal scrutiny, alleging that some intelligence presented may have been misleading or improperly handled.

Matsanga further stated that he had reviewed portions of evidence submitted before the Finnish court that were withheld from public disclosure for security reasons. Based on his assessment, he expressed the opinion that the evidence should be subjected to closer examination. However, these claims remain his personal assertions and have not been independently verified by the courts or relevant authorities.

Emphasizing his approach, Matsanga said neither he nor his associates are pursuing violence or political supremacy over the Biafra movement. Instead, he maintained that their campaign is built on legal advocacy, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution.

He also extended his concern beyond the two high-profile cases, calling for justice for innocent Nigerians affected by violence and terrorism, including Christians and other civilians. According to him, every victim of insecurity deserves protection and equal access to justice, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.

As legal proceedings continue in Finland and Nigeria, the cases involving Simon Ekpa and Nnamdi Kanu remain subjects of significant public interest, with supporters and critics closely monitoring developments that could shape future conversations around security, separatist movements, and the rule of law.
