'Shoot At Sight': IGP Disu Orders Police To Open Fire On Anyone Carrying Illegal Firearms

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Frank Mba Disu, has directed police officers to take decisive action against anyone found carrying illegal firearms, including enforcing a "shoot at sight" order where necessary in line with operational rules.

The directive comes amid growing concerns over armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping, cult-related violence, and other security threats across the country. Police authorities say the measure is aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons and improving public safety.
